Former Cameroon tennis pro pumps up the kids at OTA
OTA was proud to play host earlier this month to Bouth Bassong Rocquain, a former top ranked national player for Cameroon who has also represented Cameroon internationally. He currently teaches professionally in France and Switzerland, and has on previous occassions donated his time to come and serve OTA. Recently, he was in Cameroon for a two week vacation, when he found the time to visit the Bonanjo/Douala center and drill the top Minor Warriors and Dream Team players. Read the rest of this entry »
OTA Kids Sweep 1st ALLIANZ Cameroon Tennis Open
From January 23 to February 4th, OTA kids from the Douala, Bonaberi, and Sawaland centers took place in the 1st (hopefully Annual) ALLIANZ Cameroon Tennis Open in Douala. Playing on Wednesdays and Saturdays to work around school schedules, the kids took first in all three categories they entered (8-9 years, 10-12 years, and 13-14 years). The kids played so well that the tournament organizers even set up a special exhibition match before the men’s finals match for the kids, who proceeded to wow the crowds. Our new digs in Souza, Cameroon!
Well, it’s finally happened! Thanks to the incredible generosity of Sunny Leigh and Guy Sherman, OTA finally has a permanent home in Cameroon.
This summer, OTA founder Joseph Oyebog negotiated the purchase of a few acres in Souza, Cameroon on which to build OTA’s permanent headquarters. Since then, our team in Cameroon, led by civil engineer Jonathan Oyebog, has been hard at work preparing the land for building. Read the rest of this entry »
